Unprofessional, inept and incredibly incompetent doesn't even come close to describe my experience with trying to purchase a used BMW from Geoff Cox. As you'll see from some of the negative reviews, the owners sometimes reply with 'this is an isolated case and falls way below the standards which they expect' or some other excuse, yet they've clearly done nothing to change how their staff deal with customers in a professional manner. I initially spoke to Samuel Hall (General manager) approx 2 weeks before I was due to travel down and view and purchase the vehicle and he said they need a week to get the vehicle ready for collection etc. I then phoned a week later on the Saturday morning and spoke to Grace Pritchard about the vehicle and placed a 250 deposit to secure the vehicle. Grace informed me that I'd be able to view and potentially collect the vehicle on the Thursday of that week, so 6 days after I gave them the deposit, the car will be ready to collect. I was unable to come on Thursday due to work commitments so I arranged to come the following Monday so 9 full days after giving them the 250 deposit. They assured me the car would be ready. I then drive from London to the Midlands on Sunday evening to drop my car off in a view to then get a train up the following morning to and collect the car. On Monday morning, half way through my journey I get a call from Grace informing that they don't have the V5 document for the vehicle so they can't sell me the car. I'm still unsure as to why they were unable to call me on the Friday or the Saturday to tell me not to waste my time taking 2 days off work and traveling from London to come and look at the car as they were unable to sell it to me without the V5. It seems like a fairly basic document that needs to be present to sell a vehicle. To say I was irritated is an understatement. I asked Samuel to refund my petrol costs, my train ticket and my taxi fares which amounted to approx 70 but he flatly refused. All of this could have been easily avoided with a simple phone call on the Friday or Saturday...They may well reply to this stating that 'they offered to deliver the vehicle to me in London at a time convenient to me' But how does that get my two days off work back and the costs I had incurred plus the inconvenience. Subsequently they've lost business to a competitor and I've paid cash for the same make, model and year for approx 1000 less and with far less hassle. I run my own business and if I had people like this working for me, representing my company I'd be incredibly disappointed that in 9 days their staff can't get basic paperwork in order which are essential to make a sale or failing that even managing to make a simple phone call to the customer so they don't waste their time making unnecessary journeys. If they can't get basic paper work in place how thorough are they with their vehicle checks and servicing etc.If you do feel Like you have little choice other than to purchase a vehicle from these people then I strongly suggest you avoid the 'not so bright' persons mentioned earlier.
